Private Party Transfers (PPT – CA Only)

• $37.19 DROS + $10 dealer fee per firearm

• Cash only

• Buyer & seller must exchange money outside the store

• Typical processing time: 1–3 hours

• No PPTs within 1 hour of closing

• Firearm must have:

• Soft case

• Original lock

• One legal-capacity magazine

 

If buyer fails background:

• Seller has 10 days to retrieve firearm

• After 10 days → firearm turned over to local PD

• Up to $300 invoice: $30 fee

• Over $300 invoice: 10% of invoice

• Sales tax if not collected by seller

• 11% CA excise tax

• 3% credit card fee

Firearms

• 0–30 days: Free

• 31–60 days: $50

• 61–90 days: $100

• 91–120 days: $150

• 121–150 days: $200

• 151–180 days: $250

• Over 180 days = abandoned

 

Ammunition

• 0–30 days: Free

• 31–60 days: $50

• 61–90 days: $100

• Over 90 days = abandoned
